Central to Emma’s practice is a deep-rooted affinity with the natural world. Working intuitively, she approaches painting as she does her regular walks, without a fixed plan or predetermined outcome. Emma allows her instinct and curiosity to inform her painting, the surrounding landscape serving as an extension of the studio.

Exploration is fundamental to Emma’s approach. Her process is one of surrender - allowing material and intuition to guide - resulting in abstract works that are both restrained and emotionally resonant. Working primarily with acrylic on raw canvas, washes of colour and subtle hues evoke a quiet sense of calm and contemplation.

Reflecting on the beauty and fragility of life, Emma’s work invites a space for immersion. To look at one of her paintings is to experience a deeper awareness of the fleeting and the enduring within the natural world and our shared human experience.
