Imagine: illustrating stories

14 January - 9 April 2022

When we open a book we open our minds. Books take us to new places and offer new perspectives. The role of the illustrator is to help bring our imagination to life as we read, to make these new worlds more vivid, more magical and more alive – to show us meaning beyond the written word.

This wide-ranging exhibition brings together the work of more than 20 accomplished and renowned book illustrators. It combines original artwork from household names such as Shirley Hughes, David McKee and Shaun Tan with works by younger artists who have come to the fore more recently.

From Helen Oxenbury's iconic depiction of Lewis Carroll's Alice to Frann Preston-Gannon's contemporary and captivating naturescapes there are pieces in the exhibition to delight, surprise and inspire viewers of all ages.

All artwork will be offered for sale. Prices start from under £500.
